The Star Fortress of Khallyxis

The Planet of Khallyxis is a small Imperial world, Valued for it's Administration within the Lyxis sector(Khallyxis being the main Imperial hub within the sector, whilst it's neighboring planets of Syllixis and Vahllyxis providing mineral wealth to appease Imperial tithes). 
For several years the planet had lost contact with Imperial Administrators and it's neighboring planets claimed to have received no word from the Government on Khallyxis. An Imperial response was planned, when suddenly word began to spread of a resurgence of activity upon Khallyxis. This resurgence was trademarked by several radical commands to fellow sector governments to send an extreme proportion of unskilled laborers to Khallyxis for a project of grand scope dedicated to "The Emperor of Khallyxis and all Mankind". Imperial Tithes had once again been collected, and all debts repayed, with Imperial conditions met, interest died quickly of this meager mining sector and all planned measures were dropped. It was a distress call from Khallyxis that brought about an Imperial response many months later. An astropathic call, to anyone that would listen, cried of vile abominations acting as slave-drivers, hulking brutes of mutant flesh terrorized a frightened and emaciated populace, and the "irreversible corruption" of the Sectors primary leadership within the cabinet of the Planetary Governor. Imperial response was pained..all planned assets had since been sent elsewhere, and only one Fighting Force remained still vigilant and within reach of the sector at the time of the distress call. This option was, by several prominent Inquisitors mediating the subject, deemed worse than Exterminatus and considered "Too Extreme" but, never the less, the forces that would reassert Imperial control were called to act.
 
Colonel 655321(named BRENNER by Militarum Administrators) was to lead in the retaking of the planet under any means necessary. Colonel 655321 lead a sizeable force of 10,000 men from his Siege Regiment of the 442nd Death Korps of Krieg to retake Khallyxis, despite administration censure at the "outlandish overestimation of resistance on the planet", and set forth for the sector. Upon arriving, the fleet was immediately under fire from planetary defense weaponry, and two subsequent invasions of the lesser planets within the sector were necessary to situate the fleet within Khallyxis' orbit. 
The forces that the Siege Regiment met on these planets were the very men stationed to defend them, men that fought with a detestable zeal, and moved with a fluid and unnatural haste about them; The signs of Xenos taint were visible in all they encountered. Upon a full cleansing of both Syllixis and Vahllyxis, the war for Khallyxis began. Reports of initial landings were scarce, the Death Korps preferring to write reports only once their enemy had been slain in it's entirety. What is known however, were the horrendous casualties suffered, as many as a third of the entire regiment had been killed before even setting foot on Khallyixis. Several Commissars attached to the Korps submitted vid-logs of large serpent-like humanoids with many arms that slithered at a lightning pace to close with fierce power-weaponry. These Xenos seemed to be concentrated within the planets primary hive, as upon investigation, the surrounding 3 lesser hives were found to be stripped completely and left as barren ghost-towns bereft of life. The aliens had constructed some manner of fortress within the Hive-center and had began the process of fortifying this location; Actual humans were few and far between, the primary force defending this new fortress composed of elite flesh-beasts and the serpents, now coming to be known as the "Klix" after the hissing sound they emitted.
The Siege Regiment, upon a great victory at the Hive's main gate, had succeeded in pushing the aliens deeper within the main Hive and had gained access to the rolling Highlands that surrounded the Hive. The 442nd had bolstered the Highland, and upon reestablishing an up-link with their fleets, began a swift high-orbital bombardment of the planets capital-hive. Following the worst of the orbital strikes, the regiment conducted round-the-clock artillery strikes on the capital for a further 18 months. No habstructure survived the ordeal, the many buildings that once stretched to the very sky now lay in total ruin. All save one. The Hive had been reduced to a flat and desolate wasteland, but the structure (Called the "Star Fortress" by the traitor defense forces) stood erect as before the bombardment had even begun; No matter what the mighty cannons or Imperial cruisers could throw at it, the fortress remained. Ground forces then entered the remains of the city and found no signs of life, everything dead where the shells had fallen. A perimeter was formed around the mysterious structure and engineers began setting of focused demolitions while Grenadier teams were sent charging into the fortress' open doors. Nothing ever came of the men sent inside, and as many as 140 are believed to have been sent in to investigate before the Commissariat called a cease of operations. The order was brought to the Ordo Xenos, and has been passed through our channels for investigation and speculation; Most leaning towards the theory of Xenos sorcery keeping this structure erect. 

A team shall be assembled to investigate this vile structure and bring about it's destruction. We know not it's nature, be it sorcery or shear resilience, but it cannot be allowed to stand. Our readings suggest that some potent energy yet exists within the structure, yet it matches nothing we have before encountered. More details will follow as our plan of attack is readied, but those to be considered for this task should steel themselves for whatever may stand within those terrible walls.

This information was the last we have heard from the planet Khallyxis, and this matter has been moved to highest priority.
Our Astropathic choir tells of great strife within the warp, and all attempts to reach Colonel 655321 have failed.
We feel a tactical intervention is necessary, and forward planning has begun for your mission.
You shall be allotted 65 requisition each.

Spend it wisely, we know not what dangers you may face.

Alpha-class authority is requested, but we will take all that we can get..

Archaeotech is always a possibility, Forge Master.
It is also my recommendation that the team take some form of armored transport once you reach the planets surface, as there's no telling what state the Death Korps have left the battlefield, and considering your status I could think of none better to ensure valuable equipment is returned safely.

Whatever manner of Xenos treachery is surmounted against us, the guiding words of one so pious may serve you well.

As per the recommendation, we will be needing transportation. The armoury of Watch Station Erioch houses a glorified battle tank, the Land Raider Redeemer, and our team shall have the honour of being bourne across the battlefield by its might.



    The weapons mounted on this behemoth include:
  • 1 twin-linked assault cannon turret
  • 2 flamestorm cannon sponsons
  • 1 pintle-mounted multi-melta
  • 1 storm-bolter turret

In addition to its weaponry, a Land Raider also features unique and specialized command communications equipment, allowing the battle-brother seated at the terminal to direct orders effectively across a battlefield.





I will have the driver's seat.

Brothers I feel it is time to make my return. It has taken some time, but my preparation for Chaplaincy is complete. I shall head this kill team in the destruction of this Star Fortress. Brothers, we shall take the fight to the enemies door if that is what they wish. They will know the fear of standing against the fiercest kill team in all the Jericho Reach. They will beg for forgiveness and grovel at our feet as our blades fall upon their bare necks with the might of the Emporers holy light flowing through the furnaces of retribution that are our hearts. Brother Archturas Vulgate, you shall overwhelm any foe that dare oppose your psychic gift. Forgemaster Omicron Galmech, you intelligence and strength shall overcome any obstacle that stand before you. Leif Morrow, you shall redeem your honor this day upon the glorious anvil of war by slaying a foe with your bare hands. Sar Temujin, your mighty blades shall not touch the ground of this foul xenos riddled planet, you will hold them high and treat them with honor as the holy creations that they are. Brother Claus you shall support this kill team from the beginning till the end, no brother shall sustain permanent damage under your care this day. Brother Thraine, as a tactical marine your skills are adaptation and being able to strike down foe with bolter or sword equally; you shall show proficientcy in both by slaying no less then 10 enemies with gun and 10 with blade or hammer. Cliner Auralias, you will be the Emporers guarantee of death, making sure all enemies that we come across are slaughtered mercilessly. Brother Cotal, you will cut out the heart of the mightiest foe we encounter and bring it home to watch station Erioch. Stand together brothers and nothing can topple our will. Our enemies shall know war this day. Make their last visions in life be filled with fear and awe at the shear power of the Adeptus Astartes!

This plague of the star fortress is intriguing. I offer myself to the inquisition's guiding hand in aiding our assault.
I require a few items, if the vaults may spare them:

1 Preysense Sight - Mounted on my Deathwatch-issued Astartes Bolter to flush our xenos adversaries out of their corners.
1 Flamer - To cleanse the xenos in the Inquisition's holy fire, lest I and my brothers become entangled in their foul grasp.
1 Clip of Metal Storm Ammunition - To reduce any meek, abominable xeno hordes we may happen across, to repulsive shreds.
This leaves my brothers with 20 requisition points with which we may vanquish our foes together.
