A Templar Laid to Rest: Iratus

Name: Iratus
Specialization: Assault Tactician
Rank: 1
Weapon of Choice: Chainsword

A Brother. A friend. A rival. And an example. This eulogy is dedicated to the fallen Angel of Death Iratus. He was a young, brash and excitable marine. But these traits were not a hindrance to his brutal performance on the fields of war. His final act of glory was recorded as follows...

The kill team, having located a central Tau command center for a planetary continent, set about a plan to recover a known Imperial Officer being held within its walls. Off a short distance from the perimeter laid a landing field that held a critical piece of Tau air superiority: a Manta. These behemoths possessed the firepower to wipe clean landscapes, let alone an Imperium battle line. Seeing an unparalleled moment to make a permanent stand among the Deathwatch and to redeem his tarnished honor, Iratus boldly began a one man assault upon the landed Manta.

Meeting little resistance on the pad around the ship, he made his inside to create a plan to disable or destroy this critical terror. A threat like this simply could not be left in one piece. In a quick search he discovered the control room as well as a HE missile store room. In his search for a reactor, he crossed a threshold into a large hangar bay and was greeted by a scorching plasma bolt to center mass. Regaining his  composure his gaze met with the cold lens's of a Tau Crisis Command Suit. Remembering they are weaker when engaged in hand to hand, he charged without hesitation. After several blows and strikes the commander realized his fight was a losing one and signaled the assault ramp of the Manta to lower, revealing the reinforcements below. Seeing his prey fleeing, Iratus presses his attacks until the suit ejects its occupant in an attempt to preserve the commanders life. Either through the will of the Emperor or sheer luck, the frail body of the Tau was sent hurtling back into the hangar, leaving him an easy kill for Iratus.

Now being surrounded by the Tau forces, Iratus saw no possible way out, his kill team member unable to assist him against such a large opposition. Coming upon the reactor, Iratus set all remaining explosives he had in a simple pile next to the coolant outlet for Manta, save for one. Setting his charges, took flight straight up towards the interior ceiling. Attaching a krak grenade, he descended back to the floor to await his exit route. With a might crash the metal was sheered into a smouldering blossom of freedom. With limited time remaining, he pushed his jump pack with all the might it had towards the outlet. But it was not to be. With a thunderous explosion and a cataclysmic fireball the Manta erupted into an anti-matter fueled supernova, leveling the landscape for miles around the epicenter. His kill team was successful in reclaiming pieces of his blackened corpse, and Vulgate took a token of his act, the hilt of his broken Chainsword. May his memory live on in glory and his soul live forever with the Emperor.
